A Bit About Doug

Doug Hoyle was born in Vancouver, B.C. on April 13, 1950.

During his preteen years Doug lived next door to Mr. Bricker who was an avid photographer and had a darkroom. Doug was spellbound by the magic of the darkroom.

The adventures of the sixties put photography on hold for a number of years. In 1974 Doug began his career as an arborist which ended in July 2005 due to his advancing years. The question became “now what, 55 with no formal education?” It became apparent it was time to take a career change so Doug enrolled at the Western Academy of Photography in Victoria B.C.

After attending the first year Professional Photography program Doug decided he wanted more, so he attended the second year program, during which Doug’s photography improved dramatically. His photography become more specific; drawing on his many years experience as an arborist he was able to portray trees and plant life in a unique way.

Doug sees the unlimited possibilities in photography and is excited to explore new techniques and methods. He is driven to be the best he can be, so stay tuned there are new creations on the way.
